Pitt Interdisciplinary Humanities Grants

After the Year of Humanities, the Office of the Provost and the Dietrich School of Arts and Sciences provided resources for the Humanities Center to continue the momentum of the Year of Humanities by supporting cross-University and public humanities events. The All Pitt Humanities Committee, which consists of representatives from every school-level unit at the University, was established in September 2016 to guide and support these efforts (for a list of committee members, click here).

As part of this support, the All Pitt Humanities Committee invites faculty, staff, and students to submit proposals for projects that engage in humanistic thinking and bridge two or more academic units at Pitt, or reach outside of the University in a significant way. The Humanities Center has made a total of $20,000 available to support projects, with a maximum of $2,000 for each grant. All grants require matching funds, with at least one funding source being within the University. For a partial list of University units, click here.

There will typically be two deadlines each year, in early October and early April. We will update this page when the next deadline is available. [Please note: proposals for events scheduled to occur before that date will be considered on an ad hoc basis.]  To apply, fill out the form below.

Please email Dan Kubis, assistant director of the Humanities Center, with any questions. For a list of grant awardees in 2017, click here.
