Overview of Humanities Center Programs
Early-career Fellowship
We host a recent PhD of extraordinary promise for the academic year.
Visiting Fellowships
Each semester, we invite several fellows to campus for periods from a few days to a few weeks. We also host a distinguished faculty member from another institution for a semester. Fellows conduct events including colloquia, lectures, and class visits.
Pitt Faculty Fellowships
Fellows receive released time from teaching to advance on major book projects and to contribute to the intellectual life of the Center.
Pitt Faculty Collaborative Research Projects
We support projects that foster research across departments or institutions, including conferences, colloquia, and lectures.
Colloquium Series
A regular event held on most Thursdays at 12:30, with discussion focused on written work by Fellows and guests.
Conferences
We host conferences of interdisciplinary interest, including “The Humanities in Crisis,” Nov. 13-14, 2009.
Faculty Seminar
The week after Commencement, a Fellow leads a week-long seminar on a far-reaching topic.
Collaboration with Departments and Programs
We help other units to fund lectures or other events, to offer courses related to Fellows’ work, and to foster interdepartmental collaborations.
